Personal Care Assistance
Personal care assistance services help a person with day-to-day activities in their home and community. PCAs help people with activities of daily living, health-related procedures and tasks, observation and redirection of behaviors and instrumental activities of daily living for adults.

School Health
Inter-County Nursing Service contracts with school districts to provide pre-school screenings, hearing and vision screenings, school health services, health education and technical assistance with immunization review and requirements.

Child & Teen Checkups
Child and Teen Check-Ups are well child visits for children ages birth through 20 eligible for Medical Assistance and Minnesota Care.
They include:
  • Vision and hearing check
  • Laboratory tests, including lead, blood and urine as needed
  • Immunizations if needed
  • A complete head to toe physical assessment
  • Health education and counseling about healthy lifestyles
  • Nutrition assessment
  • Developmental assessment

Follow Along Program
When do kids start talking and walking? The Follow Along Program is about child development. It lets you know if your child is playing, talking, growing, moving, and acting like other children the same age.

Public Health offers home visits to families with children under the age of 4 when there is an identified need.

Prenatal Education
A public health nurse can work with you one-on-one in the community or in your home to provide education for a healthy pregnancy. Education will include physical and emotional changes during pregnancy, how to prepare for labor and birth, breastfeeding, newborn care, and growth and development.

Post-partum/Newborn Visits
A public health nurse will visit you after you return home with your baby. The nurse will assess baby’s growth and development, answer any questions you may have and will connect you to community resources available to you.

Car Seat Distribution & Education
Inter-County Nursing Service provides education for choosing the right child safety restraint and instructions for correct use. Free car seats are available through Public Health to eligible Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare members.

Dental Fluoride

Lead poisoning can cause learning, behavior and health problems in young children. Lead can cause high blood pressure and kidney damage in adults.

Help Me Grow
Program designed for children with special needs such as speech delays, movement problems or learning disabilities. Provide coordination of services such as physical therapy, speech therapy, early childhood special education or any other needed services to help children develop.

Child Immunizations
Immunizations are available in the office by appointment to children 0-18 who are eligible for the Minnesota Vaccines for Children Program. Eligibility includes those who are uninsured, have insurance through a state-funded plan or privately insured but vaccines are not covered.

Immunizations are available in the office by appointment for adults 19 and older who are eligible for the Uninsured and Underinsured Adult Vaccines Program. Eligibility includes those who are uninsured or those who are insured but vaccines are not covered. Immunizations are also provided to adults on a state-funded insurance plan.

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
WIC is a special supplemental nutrition and breastfeeding program for Women, Infants and Children. It provides healthy food, nutrition education, counseling, health information, and referrals to health and other social services.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
SNAP, formerly know as Food Stamps, helps Minnesotans with low incomes get the food they need for nutritious and well-balanced meals. The program provides support to help stretch your household food budget. It is not intended to meet all of your household’s food needs. It is a supplement. If you are approved for SNAP, you can use your benefits at many stores, farmers markets and senior dining sites. Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) debit cards are used to make food purchases.
